Position Summary:Summer Sessions & Lifelong Learning (SSLL) is a dynamic, fast-paced department that administers the Summer Sessions academic program. SSLL is a self-support unit responsible for recruiting and serving students in summer academic programs and WINTERmester. In addition, SSLL coordinates and sponsors community events, and participates in outreach programming such as educational travel and youth camps.

This position is the first point of contact for the students, faculty and community that we serve.


10Assist with maintenance of the SSLL website and social media accounts.Essential

20Coordinate multiple aspects of educational workshops, tours and conferences. Maintain databases for travel study participants and provide registration and tour information, and assistance with travel and lodging. Maintain an email group to facilitate communication with the travel study participants. Manage tour registration system. Supervise the assembly of travel information packets. Prepare invoices and receive payment for travel study participants.Essential

20Manage registration system, scholarships, and procurement for the Summer Sessions & Lifelong Learning (SSLL) kids’ camp program. Maintain various databases (tuition waiver recipients, course syllabi, textbook adoptions, ticket sales, graphics, etc.) Support associate director in maintenance of course and instructor databases. Coordinate special event ticket sales through distribution points, managing monies received. Manage the purchase and maintenance of office equipment.Essential

50Provide complex administrative support for the Summer Sessions & Lifelong Learning (SSLL) office including prioritizing, coordinating and managing office activities and expenditures. Disseminate information on SSLL courses and events, and UAF academic policies and regulations via phone, fax, email and in-person to students, staff, faculty, and community. Process registrations, add/drops and other student paperwork. Research issues and options to resolve student registration problems with attention to FERPA requirements. Network with offices of the registrar and bursar to resolve problems for students and faculty with an understanding of relevant UA policy and regulations. Utilize Banner to secure necessary information to resolve student or faculty problems, provide class lists to faculty, monitor enrollments, secure contact information, update waitlists, prepare reports and manage office expenditures.Essential


Oversee student workers and provide training. Manage grade reporting from summer faculty and secure missing grades. Secure summer textbook information and syllabi from instructor.


Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to coordinate events. Able to complete a wide variety of clerical services, prioritizing workload for self and subordinates. Ability to work independently with decision-making and problem solving.

Required Experience:

Minimum three years progressively responsible office experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Typical Education or Training:

High school graduation or equivalent.
