The Resident Assistant(RA) is a student member of the MacLean Inupiat House. He/She is responsible for working closely with staff and students in creating and maintaining an atmosphere that promotes student development and acceptance of diversity through group living in University residence halls. The RA is responsible for developing and implementing culturally relevant programming that fosters a transitional residential and community living setting for student coming to UAF from rural Alaska and Native communities; this atmosphere should reflect the communal lifestyle of rural Alaska and traditional Native values, serving as a comfortable transitional environment for rural Native students as well as diversified cultural experience for non-Native students/residents. The RA will assume specific responsibility for a designated area with the residence hall. The position carries part-time, live-in responsibilities with appointment made on a yearly basis.
