Position Summary:The Geophysical Institute Space Physics Group seeks a talented engineer to work on the scientific radars of the SuperDARN network. The Position will involve radio hardware and software engineering and deployment to ensure that SuperDARN remains at the cutting edge of space physics observation.
50Radar development R&D: Assit with R&D development, data collection, and intrumentation

SuperDARN is an international network of HF radars used for observations of near-Earth space. The successful candidate will join the SuperDARN group at the Geophysical Institute and will lead the operation, maintenance, and development of the radar hardware and software for the systems operated by the GI. In addition, the candidate will work with our international partners to coordinate scheduling and data distribution. Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of radar signal processing, software radio, and extensive experience programming in C, C++, and Python. The position will require travel to the radar sites, which include Kodiak and Adak, Alaska, and McMurdo and South Pole, Antarctica.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of electromagnetic devices
Knowledge of data acquisition electronics
Knowledge and experience with computer programming in C-languages
Knowledge of radar systems and techniques
Strong problem solving skills

This position is a full-time, exempt, term-funded, Grade 79 ($25.82/hour, salary commensurate with experience)

Pursuant to University Regulation 04.07.020, new employees of the University are employed in an at-will probationary status for the first six months of employment. During the probationary period, employment may be terminated for no reason or any reason. Promoted employees also serve a probationary period with limited rights of retreat.
This position is a term-funded position through June 30, 2018, and is reviewed annually for contract renewal at the University's discretion.
