Duties:

The University Relations team leads strategic marketing and public relations activities that enhance awareness, build support and increase engagement with our many diverse audiences.

Our mission is to strengthen our brand, elevate our reputation and position UAF as Alaska’s research university and America’s Arctic university.

This student assistant position assists the chief photographer/videographer with various digital photography/video related tasks including taking images/recording video footage, preparing images for various methods of distribution, filling image requests from on and off-campus sources, using an established workflow from capture to archive, transport, set-up and breakdown various lighting and photographic equipment to on and off-campus locations, photographing/videographing various campus functions, events, groups and individuals, and other duties as assigned. Experience with Adobe Suite or other editing software preferred. Expect a schedule of 15-20 hours per week with some evening/weekend hours.

Positions require the knowledge and skill to operate computers and equipment noted in the job description, demonstrated skills in the position applied for and the ability to exercise independent judgment. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, database, data entry and customer service. Previous work experience and familiarity with Macintosh computers. Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize.

NOTICE: Students must maintain enrollment and regular attendance for a minimum of at least 6 undergraduate credit hours or 6 graduate credit hours to be exempt from FICA (Social Security and Medicare) tax. A credit hour load below the minimum required for full-time student status will require the withholding of FICA tax (non-resident aliens on an appropriate visa who meet student employment criteria will continue to be exempt from FICA regardless of credit hour load). While in a student position, a student cannot hold any other type of simultaneous employment with the university and must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA.
